Ghee Mysore Pak

Mysore pak is an Indian sweet which is made during special occasions. I love the ghee mysore pak from Sree Krishna sweets and Ananda Bhavan. I have done this 2 years back. Yesterday I was craving for some sweets and had some Gram flour left. So immediately prepared it. Its so soft that it just melt in your mouth, and the wonderful flavour of ghee is irresistible. Only caution is : ITS HIGHLY FATTENING..
Ingredients:
  • Besan/ Gram Flour / Kadala mavu- 3/4 cup
  • Ghee- 2 cup
  • Sugar- 1-3/4 cup
  • Water- 1-1/4 cup
Method:
  • Dry roast the gram flour in low flame for two minutes and keep aside.
  • In a large kadai melt the sugar in water and boil till one string consistency.
  • Heat the ghee in another pan and keep it ready. Do not boil it.
  • Bring the kadai down from the flame and mix in the roasted gram flour in two to three additions and mix without any lumps.
  • Bring the kadai back to the flame and mix well without stopping.
  • Add in ghee to the mixture in 4-5 additions and stirring well in between each additions, so that the ghee completely incorporated into the mixture.
  • After the last addition of the ghee, mix non stop for one minute and you will see that the mixture has puffed up and leave the sides of the pan.
  • Immediately pour into a greased pan and allow to cool completely before slicing.
